MARTA KAMEN
Geologist &
Exobiologist

Russia
As a young woman, Kamen witnessed the Chelyabinsk meteor fall in February 2013, which inspired the focus of her Ph.D. — to look for traces of life in Martian meteorites. A pragmatist and realist about practical matters, her even temperament will be invaluable on Mars.
Actor bio: Anamaria Marinca
Anamaria Marinca plays Russian exobiologist and geologist Marta Kamen. Born in Iasi, Romania, Marinca graduated from the University of Fine Arts, Music and Drama in Iasi. In 2005, she won three best actress awards (the BAFTA Television Award, the Royal Television Society Award and the Golden Nymph at the Festival de Television de Monte Carlo) for her role in “Sex Traffic,” a CBC/Channel 4 drama about human trafficking. In 2007, she starred in the Romanian film “4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days” by Cristian Mungiu, which won the Palme d’Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Marinca also appeared in the Francis Ford Coppola film “Youth Without Youth.” She recurred on the Welsh TV detective series “Hinterland” as well as the Golden Globe-nominated STARZ series “The Missing.” Other feature credits include “Fury” opposite Brad Pitt, “Europa Report,” “Floride” and “The Girl With All the Gifts.” Marinca also just finished filming “Ghost in the Shell” opposite Scarlett Johansson and directed by Rupert Sanders.

Javier Delgado
Hydrologist &
Geochemist

Spain
Delgado is responsible for developing and managing the settlement’s most basic and precious resource: water. An avid golfer at home, he is a naturally social man who despite his toughness will in some way find the strains of Martian isolation more difficult than the other crew members.
Actor bio: Alberto Ammann
Alberto Ammann plays Spanish hydrologist and geochemist Javier Delgado. In 2008, Ammann won a Goya (Spanish Academy Award) for his riveting performance in “Cell 211,” which became the year’s most successful Spanish film. He was born in Cordoba, Argentina, and trained professionally at the Juan Carlos Corazza Acting Studio in Spain. Ammann starred in the 2012 thriller “Invasor,” playing a Spanish military doctor stationed in Iraq during the war, and he guest starred in the sci-fi thriller “Mindscape” directed by Jorge Dorado. He is currently finishing shooting the second season of the Neftlix series “Narcos,” in which he plays Pacho Herrera.

Hana Seung
Mission Pilot &
Systems Engineer

America
Seung spent her childhood on the move, shuttling between far-flung U.S. bases as her parents received new assignments. This left her with both a yearning for stability and an ability to make her home wherever she finds it. She and twin sister Joon have dreamed of travelling into space since childhood, and her position as second in command on the mission to Mars is the result of a singularly focused career.
Actor bio: Jihae
MARS marks musician and humanitarian Jihae’s acting debut, playing the dual role of Korean-American twins Hana and Joon Seung. Hana is a mission pilot and software engineer aboard the first human mission to Mars, while sister Joon is a capsule communicator back on Earth. During her burgeoning musical career, Jihae (which means “wisdom” in Korean) has released four albums; written and produced a multimedia rock opera with Academy Award-winning playwright John Patrick Shanley; performed at the London Olympics, the Cannes Film Festival and the United Nations; and become heavily involved with a variety of nonprofits and charities, including work with Hillary Clinton’s 2012 Hours Against Hate global initiative, the Willie Mae Rock Camp and Simon Says Sing 4 Peace, a public platform for artists to speak out against war.
